Recipe Notes:

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Don’t worry, I know the sauce will look very watery when you let it simmer, but once you add the cornstarch it will thicken up to the perfect orange sauce.

Can I use freshly squeezed orange juice?

Yeah, I’d say about 2-3 oranges will give you 1⁄2 cup of orange juice.

Can I omit the orange marmalade?

You could, but this really brings out the orange flavor and
helps thicken the sauce. If you decide to skip the orange marmalade, I would add orange zest to the sauce instead of just the topping. Since the orange marmalade has sugar, I would also increase the brown sugar to 3⁄4 cup instead of 1⁄2 cup if you are looking for a sweet sauce.

Can I use fresh ginger root and fresh garlic?

Absolutely! I love the paste as it takes less time and is ready to go when I need minced garlic or ginger.
