To properly wash canvas or cotton shoes, make sure to set the correct temperature: you can set it between 30 and 40 degrees, without exceeding the heat so as not to compromise the hold of the fabrics and rubbers. The number of spin revolutions cannot exceed 600, for safe cleaning, without any risk.
Use a modest amount of detergent and choose one formulated for delicate garments. Too much soap or a detergent that is too harsh can ruin your shoes.
Once the cycle is complete, the key moment arrives : drying.
If you habitually put your shoes out in the sun to ensure that the operation is completed in the shortest possible time, change your habit immediately. In fact, this practice can irreparably compromise the beauty of your shoes, especially if they are coloured! The combination of the temperature of the washing machine, the detergent and direct radiation is detrimental to their watertightness. It is better to store them in the open air, but in a shaded area. Only then will they be perfect, like new!
