When temperatures drop, rodents seek refuge in groups in our homes, in search of food and warmth. Their keen sense of smell allows them to detect all kinds of foodstuffs common in our kitchens and homes. They feed on bread, flour, cereals, sweets, even pet food. Their habitat often consists of plastic or paper bags, which they transform into nests of around 15 to 20 cm in diameter, hiding behind refrigerators, under sofas, near radiators or even under beds.
Natural solutions to keep rodents away:
Chili Mix: A mixture of chili pepper, mint and garlic powder sprayed in at-risk areas can deter rodents.
Scented soap sticks: Placing soaps scented with the same properties as peppermint around doors, windows and other openings can act as a repellent.
Aluminum Foil: Blocking holes and cracks with steel wool, concrete, or aluminum foil can keep rodents out.
Peppermint Oil: Soaking cotton balls in peppermint oil and placing them at strategic entry points can help keep rodents away.
Baking Soda: Sprinkling baking soda in areas with mouse droppings can be effective because it disrupts their digestive system.
