1. Getting the syrup ready
In a saucepan, mix sugar, water and lemon juice.
Bring to a boil and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Out of the fire, add orange blossom water and let cool.
2. Preparing the cream (Ashta)
In a saucepan, mix milk, corn and sugar.
Heat over medium heat and stir to thicken.
Add the water of orange blossom, mix and let to cool.
3. Preparing basbousa dough
In a bowl, mix semolina, sugar, chemical yeast, yogurt, milk, melted butter and orange blossom water.
Pour half of the batter into a buttered mold and smooth the surface.
Gently spread the cream on top.
Cover with rest of the batter and smooth again.
Add whole almonds on top for decoration.
