First of all, you should never wash your jeans at a high temperature (60°C). Always set a program with cold water (30°C) and follow the instructions on the label. For an effective wash, it is recommended to turn your jeans inside out to avoid fading. If you want to wash more than one pair at a time, make sure to sort them wisely and put together pants of the same shade, otherwise you risk staining them all. In other words, black or dark jeans should never be washed with white or blue jeans. Also, be careful to choose the most appropriate detergent, suitable for denim and colored fabrics. Please note that fabric softener is not recommended, as denim fibers can be damaged much more easily.
Good to know: Once the wash cycle is finished, hang your jeans outside, in the shade and inside out. To avoid marks, hang them by placing clothespins on the waistband.
How to wash very dirty jeans without damaging them?
If you notice stubborn oil stains on your jeans, baby powder may be the solution: pour a little on the area to be treated and let it sit for a few hours, before starting a machine wash. Another effective option? Dishwashing detergent. You don’t need too much, just three drops to remove grease stains. Rub gently with a clean, light-colored cloth.
NOTE: It is essential to treat grease stains as soon as possible, because the more days go by, the more they will penetrate the fibers of the denim and the more laborious the cleaning will be later. However, if you start early enough, it will be much easier if you use the right products.
Remove a blood stain carefully.
Many people are afraid of ruining their jeans when removing blood stains. In fact, this requires some precautions: you should already place the jeans on a surface such as the bathtub or place them on a nylon cloth on the table. Get a clean and particularly transparent cloth to prevent the jeans from fading. The ideal remedy to apply is salt-based, an unexpected cleaner that dissipates blood stains and fixes the colors of the clothes.
