As a result of ironing using steam, the iron and especially the soleplate are attacked by limescale and encrustations, as well as by stains.
In fact, this appliance must be cleaned thoroughly every month, otherwise you risk transferring the dirt onto your clothes.
A very quick trick for carefully polishing and washing the iron is using salt ; Let’s see together how to use it right away!
Holes and plate
Without a doubt, the most tiring element to clean when we talk about the iron is the soleplate together with the holes .
In fact, the plate, being made of steel, can easily blacken over the years, also due to water and contact with clothing.
The holes, however, are affected and blocked by limestone because the water vapor that remains inside them has difficulty going away.
The solution is to heat the iron plate without making it hot , then you will have to pass a sponge full of fine salt over it and leave it to act for about 20 minutes.
After this time it will be necessary to rinse well with a microfibre cloth and you will see that the holes and the plate will become shiny and super clean again!
Alternatively, you can use another trick that requires salt and baking paper : place the paper on the ironing board, heat the iron and when it is hot, pass it over the salt repeatedly.
The salt will dissolve instantly, sticking to the stains, at which point you will simply need to wipe with a sponge and the straightener will be perfect again!
Stubborn stains
Removing stubborn stains from the iron is the first thing you can do with simple fine salt.
